Web 3....Can you see it?!

Category: By Loai
You've decided to go see a movie and grab a bite to eat afterward. You're in the mood for a comedy and some incredibly spicy Mexican food. Booting up your PC, you open a Web browser and head to Google to search for theater, movie and restaurant information. You need to know which movies are playing in the theaters near you, so you spend some time reading short descriptions of each film before making your choice. Also, you want to see which Mexican restaurants are close to each of these theaters. And, you may want to check for customer reviews for the restaurants. In total, you visit half a dozen Web sites before you're ready to head out the door

Will we view future versions of the Web through devices like this tiny head-mounted display?

Some Internet experts believe the next generation of the Web -- Web 3.0 -- will make tasks like your search for movies and food faster and easier. Instead of multiple searches, you might type a complex sentence or two in your Web 3.0 browser, and the Web will do the rest. In our example, you could type "I want to see a funny movie and then eat at a good Mexican restaurant. What are my options?" The Web 3.0 browser will analyze your response, search the Internet for all possible answers, and then organize the results for you.

That's not all. Many of these experts believe that the Web 3.0 browser will act like a personal assistant. As you search the Web, the browser learns what you are interested in. The more you use the Web, the more your browser learns about you and the less specific you'll need to be with your questions. Eventually you might be able to ask your browser open questions like "where should I go for lunch?" Your browser would consult its records of what you like and dislike, take into account your current location and then suggest a list of restaurants.

Inside Microsoft

Category: By Loai
Hello
Back after a long time. I hope you like this post.

You might not like Microsoft, but admit it, we’re lucky they exist. Where would we be without Word, or Excel, or Halo? In a less productive, less fun place, my friends. And today we are taking a look at the place that makes it possible: Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, where over 30,000 of their employees work.

The psychedelic mural in the lunch area is pretty sweet, and the lake’s pretty nice. We’re spoiled by all the pictures of Google, etc., but there’s nothing to complain about. The kitchen looks great, there’s foosball and a pooltable, and comfy seats. If it is a “velvet sweatshop”, and least it’s plush velvet.

Bonus points: spot the Macs!

Boost your Firefox speed!

By Loai
Hello

For me, I love Firefox so much for many reasons. One of these is it's speed and the way you make it your own with hundreds of Add-ons and themes and many. Today i'm going to talk about a small tip which boosts your firefox speed. Let's Go!

First, open a new tab and write "about:config" in the address bar. Type "network" in the filter box. Second, choose "network.http.pipelining". Double click on it to change it from false to true. Third, find "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests". Change it's value from 4 to 10. Restart firefox and you will feel the difference

Windows Internet Explorer 8 coming soon!

By Loai
Hello

Microsoft will release the first beta of Internet Explorer 8 in the first half of 2008 that will have full support for web standards. And the new browser will be known as “Windows Internet Explorer 8″.

Website designers will be able to write websites based on standards, insert a flag that tells IE to render in IE8 standards mode, and IE will then switch its rendering engine to use this new mode.

Thus IE8 won’t break the layout of existing websites coded for previous versions of IE (IE7 or IE6, for example). They’ll behave in exactly the same way in IE8 unless website designers opt-in to IE8 standards mode by placing a simple tag at the head of their HTML document.

It is not immediately clear if Windows IE8 will be available for Windows 2000 and XP versions.

Waiting for it
Thanks

Google Talk Chat translation!

By Loai
Welcome
What a great step, google!
Google talk Now translates your conversations instantly.

This is how it works:
add en2zh@bot.talk.google.com as a friend in Google Talk and send it a message. It’s a bot that will translate whatever you say from English to Chinese.

For other languages, add any of the other 29 translation bots: ar2en, bg2en, de2en, de2fr, el2en, en2ar, en2de, en2el, en2es, en2fr, en2it, en2ja, en2ko, en2nl, en2ru, en2zh, es2en, fi2en, fr2de, fr2en, hi2en, hr2en, it2en, ja2en, ko2en, nl2en, ru2en, uk2en, ur2en, zh2en. If the names seem confusing to you, check this list of two-letter language abbreviations for clarification. The syntax is “[from language]2[to language]@bot.talk.google.com”

Hope you enjoy it!
